Signing in from TopoDOT User Conference

Hey Guys!

Signing in from sunny Orlando, Florida with a quick update for you. Hope you are all well. We have been busy bees over here at ‘Get Kids into Survey’. This week we are geared up for TopoDOT User Conference. TopoDOT has been our life long sponsor and we thought it fitting to have our ‘coming out’ party with them at TUC 2019.

We have a booth and we will be showing TUC attendees what we have in store for the next year with GKiS, including the first sneak peak at our Comic Book as well as a chance to explore our AR App. Attendees will also be the first to get their hands on our first regionalized poster for the US, ‘New York City’, part of the Smart Cities poster collection.

Thanks to our amazing US Distributer Tim Burch at NSPS and local surveyor Mark Van Hala of Dave Schmitt Engineering Inc, TUC will have in attendance, 40 STEM students from the Orange County School District. This will also be the first ‘Get Kids into Survey’ official STEM organized event.

I will be running a fun workshop on May 7th with our awesome Brand Ambassador Ryan Swingley of ESP Associates. We will also have Founding Research Director, Timothy Hawthorne of Citizen Science GIS joining us and telling us the latest about the Geo Bus. An on board science lab with a focus for geospatial technology careers. HOW COOL!

Right. I said it was a quick one.

Until next time.

Australian Distributer for Get Kids into Survey

I tell you March was a crazy one and now its almost mid April. What’s going on? What with the release of our latest CSI Poster (you can order your FREE copy here) as well as the release of our colour in sheets (download straight from website here) we have also been working on some amazing new projects as well.

As promised from my last newsletter, I have some sneak peaks to show you of our comic book too…

BUT first we have some other amazing news to share. Ready for it…

We have an Australian Distributer

Meet Michelle Brooks of CDM Branding in Melbourne, Australia our now Official Distributer for Australasia. Can you believe it? We can’t wait to see the posters being shared and used by many down under.

So a little bit about Michelle. Since 2008, Michelle has managed the career promotion campaign Surveying, A Life Without Limits, under the direction of the Surveying Task Force in Victoria and the NSW Surveying Taskforce. Amazing. The focus has been on promoting surveying career paths and workplace opportunities to students with an interest in STEM subjects with view to increasing the number of Licensed or Registered Surveyors. Today, this great campaign operates across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Working in concert with Destination Spatial Qld, Michelle and her team at CDM developed and launched a complementary brand, Geospatial Science, in 2018.

If you are based in one of the Australasian countries it’s time to get ordering your FREE posters as postage is now a heck of a lot cheaper coming from Australia than the UK previously.  Order here or for orders over 20, email Michelle direct at michelle@cdmbranding.com.au

For those of you that are not based in the Australasia region you can still order direct through our website here 🙂

Ok! So what’s next?

Our comic book. No wait we’ll get to that in a minute.

We’re getting closer to May and that means one thing, well two things actually… TopoDOT User Conference in Orlando and GEO Business Show in London. Are you coming?

For the lucky ones who are attending these shows you will be the first to see and get your hands on our latest Smart Cities Posters; New York at TUC and London at GEO Business. Sadly the deadline for New York has just passed but if you are UK based there is still time to sponsor our London Poster. The deadline is the 24th April. Go Go Go! Our Sydney Sponsorship deadline in the 24th May so plenty of time for that one 🙂 Check out the sponsorship options here and contact Elaine Ball today if you want to get involved and help us with our mission!

Ok so I made you wait. I’m sorry but not really. Back to the comic book! Ooooo….

Let me introduce you to… the Last Surveyor

One of our most significant characters you’ll be getting to know in the upcoming Comic Series from Get Kids into Survey.

The Last Surveyor (name to be disclosed soon) is the sole surviving surveyor in the year 2049. In a future driven mad by unchecked greed and frenzied expansion, he led a band of rebel surveyors, trying desperately to bring order and pull the world back from the brink of total collapse. But, the rebels were hunted – silenced one-by-one – until only he remain. A master of technology, he realised that the only hope of saving the future was to reach into the past – to tap the potential of four bright young minds, and funnel it into his own robotic creations. With his consciousness uploaded to a hidden supercomputer, The Last Surveyor searches across time and dataspace for the perfect team to help him save the world…

Does anyone recognize The Last Surveyor? His character might just be based on someone very closely related to Elaine and I? 😉

I’ll be releasing more top secret updates on this newsletter in the coming weeks leading up to TUC and Geo Business. You’ll also notice some updates on our socials so keep an eye on them (links below).

If you want to get more involved with our upcoming Comic please enquire with myself or Elaine to find out how you can sponsor and help us get this comic into the hands of as many kids across the globe.

Until next time.

New UK & Europe Distributer for ‘Get Kids into Survey’

I must say it has been a busy first month on the job. Elly here from #GetKidsintoSurvey. Hello!

So I officially started working full time on #GetKidsintoSurvey as of the 1st Feb 2019…and what can I tell you, it has been none stop. Elaine and I have been on many meetings to spread the word and grow the community racing around London, Yorkshire, Cumbria and other parts of the UK. But don’t worry, for those of you not in the UK I will be putting my jet pack on soon enough and going global this Spring.

Ok so some big news coming your way

But…before I get to the details of our said meetings, we have also started our journey into the comic book world. OMG! What can I say! We have a fantastic writer and … well you will be seriously blown away with what we have in store. We can’t wait to share it with you. The first episode will be due in May. But I will be showing you some sneak peeks on the upcoming newsletters before the official release in May. Shh don’t tell anyone. It will also be a chance for you to get involved and sponsor the upcoming episodes and comic book which will come later in the year. If you have any questions or want to get involved ASAP email me at elly@getkidsintosurvey.com

Ok! So what’s next?

AR!

Yes we are augmenting the posters…and well the comic book too when it comes!!! How exciting? We are starting off with our main gal GEO Ginger. For those of you that are attending the TopoDOT User Conference in Orlando 6th – 10th May or GEO Business Show in London 21st – 22nd May then you will be the first to trial it out. The idea is that the augmented character will tell a story, educate the viewer on survey equipment or a solution. Sponsors can request to augment their character with the goal being that we eventually have a fully immersive scene of animated characters – taking kids (and adults too) to the next level. If you are one of our sponsors, this is a great opportunity to showcase what instruments you have and what they can do, teaching kids but also educating the market. Lots of fun to be had. More to come later…

Ok so back to what I can share with you now!

One more thing…

Our CSI Poster will be available next week! We’ll announce on our socials when it’s ready. For those of you that made it to the end of this email, here’s a sneaky peaky…

I’ll be back soon with more updates.

Thanks for reading,

Elly

(…as in, not Elaine…we’re not the same person if that’s what you were thinking. I know it’s confusing but made life easier for our parents if we were all basically called the same name – we have another sister too named Elizabeth, no joke.)

Diary of a Geospatial Marketer 18th March 2018

In our latest VLOG we talk about the, Get Kids into Survey campaign where we will be introducing the ALL NEW Smart Cities, the latest feature in our new poster which will go to production in time for the TopoDOT User Conference TUC! This time the poster will have new characters, including the TopoDOT sponsored dog, Piggle Wiggle. With more detail included in this latest poster kids will have to go and hunt down Piggle Wiggle, making it even more interactive for kids than ever before.

Get the low-down on our latest trip to Europe and the highlights of our Holland visit where we learn’t more about point cloud data and the civil side of surveying. Coming up we have a new copywriter that we’re trying as well as new blogs and research into how we get value, and extract money, out of our point cloud data.

Stay tuned… #GeospatialMarketer
